The very first day when I went for Lunch there was a huge commotion. The servers are poor in customer service and panic a lot. Never have lunch there if you are hungry. Try Sakthi Bhavan or Gupta Bhavan which is stone throw away.

RTO Office, Tambaram is on Kishkinta Road.

How to go to RTO Office, Tambaram

Tambaram RTO Office is accessible by road, Take the road next to the bus stand - they call it Kishkinta Road - It is about three - four kilometers from the bus stand. There are share-autos that charge you Rs 10/head or a normal auto will charge Rs 40

There are some buses plying on that route. Not sure of the number.

Better if you have a own vehicle as you need to wait for return autorickhaws

Two-Wheeler Testing Ground for RTO Tambaram:

There is a Two Wheeler Testing ground where the candidates are asked to drive like eight . This is one kilometer behind the RTO office. you need to go straight in Kishkinta road and take left near a Vinayagar temple.

RTO comes to the ground on Tuesday and Saturday for verification

Four-Wheeler Testing Ground for RTO Tambaram:

Four wheeler tests happen on Kishkita Road - from the Bridge towards Kishkinta . The
test look like a political rally with the test vehicle - Car / Force Trax followed by tens of two wheelers. The RTO sits in the car and checks the way the candidates drive .. mostly he will ask to start -- change gears -- stop and the next candidate (who follows in the two-wheeler) jumps in . Own vehicles are asked to take the test at last - they are asked to drive for five meters - take a U-turn and come back

There are good number of Driving schools that train drivers here. The predominantly seen there are Alpha Driving School, Sivasakthi Driving School and Driving School

I was surprised if the shanty town with pride will have a history. I was proved wrong.. there are lot of places to see around tambaram. Many Siddhars have lived here - Venugopala Swamy, Sathguru; many temples are here - Ahobila Mutt, Skandashramam, Thenupureshwar, Kodanda Rama, Sundareshwar .. the list goes on.
